Louise Aylor Montague, 101, of Middlesex Co., VA. died Thursday, January 21, 2021.
Louise was the daughter of the late Rev. Robert Edward Lee Aylor and Ella Katherine Vaden Aylor. She was predeceased by her husband Dr. Benjamin Franklin Montague, Jr. and by six brothers, Robert, Vaden, Raymond, Manly, Stanton, and Garnett, plus one sister, Carrie Tate Aylor. She is survived by a host of nieces of nephews.
Mrs. Montague and her husband Ben loved camping and hiking, and they made many trips across all of Canada and the continental US, including he 48 states, plus Alaska and Hawaii. She also loved bird watching and reading US history.
Mrs. Montague attended Red Hill School in Albermarle Co. and graduated from Chatham High School in Chatham, VA. She attended Averett College in Danville, VA and is a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Nursing in Charlottesville, VA. class of 1942.
Donations can be made to either the Chatham Baptist Church or the scholarship fund she set up at the UVA Medical School Foundation for Alzheimer’s research in memory of her late husband.
Graveside services will be conducted Saturday, January 30, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the Chatham, VA Burial Park with Rev. Chuck Warnock, Chatham Baptist Church officiating.
