Louise Carter Overstreet

Louise “Missy” Carter Overstreet, 95, of Bedford, passed away on Sunday, January 13, 2019 at Oakwood Manor Health and Rehab. She was born in Bedford on July 13, 1923, a daughter of the late Eugene Butler Carter and the late Esther Rowena Overstreet. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James Robert Overstreet; son, Steve Alan Overstreet; three grandchildren; five brothers and two sisters.

Louise worked as a laborer for Rubatex Corporation. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Bedford. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her children Helen Overstreet, James “Sonny” Overstreet (Vickie), Raymond Overstreet (Joyce), Lois Holland, Frances Stanley (W.R.), Edith Hall (Jim), Carolyn Overstreet, and Janet Brown (Alan). She is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, John “Buck” Carter (Virginia) and a sister, Ella Mae Carter; also surviving are two special friends, Brenda Hudson and Louie Martin.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, January 18, 2019 at Tharp Funeral Chapel in Bedford with Rev. Ray T. Lyons officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends form 5:00 until 7:00 pm on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory Bedford.
