Lucille Brown Evans, 82, of Amherst, died Wednesday, March 14, 2018. She was the wife of the late Grover Erick Evans for 33 years.
Born Friday, August 02, 1935 in Amherst, Lucille was a daughter of the late Saint Brown and the late Lena Lollis Brown.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Lucille was preceded in death by a son Steven D. Evans; a daughter; Joyce Ann Evans; a brother, Harry Brown; and five sisters, Frances Walker, Gracie Chambers, Viola Brown, Helen Hurt, and Dorothy Trent.
Lucille is survived by her children, Francis Toller, of Amherst, Lee Evans, Jr., of Greensboro, NC, Dale Garrett, of Moneta, JoAnn Jackson, of Lynchburg, Cynthia Sales, of Lynchburg, Rena Redd, of Kernersville, NC, Louise Sandidge, of Amherst, and Tony Evans, of Strawberry Plains, TN; 12 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Lucille was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. A good hearted and strong woman, she was the glue that keep her family together. Nothing could keep her down. She loved western movies and flowers. A great cook, her family loved her pot roast and candied yams. She will be greatly missed.
A celebration of Lucille’s life will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Sunday, March 18, 2018 at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg with Pastor Tommy Redd officiating.
