Lucille Phelps Davidson died peacefully July 3, 2019. She was the wife of the late Rev. William Fred Davidson. She was born August 28, 1928, the daughter of Thomas Talmadge and Florine Moore Phelps. She was preceded in death by a son, Gary L. Davidson, a daughter Wanda Fay Davidson, a daughter-in-law Kimberly Hendren Davidson, a son-in-law Rev. Nolan R. Crowder and several brothers and sisters.
She is survived by a brother Bobby W. Phelps (Betty Dale); a daughter Sharon D. Crowder; two sons Colen E. Davidson (Teressa) and Rev. Ronald T. Davidson (Claudia); a daughter-in-law Patricia P. Davidson and a daughter-in-law Jackie Davidson.
She was a loving wife, mother to five, grandmother to ten, and great-grandmother to nineteen. She was a member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church. In addition, she was well loved as a “pastor’s wife” at a number of churches. She was the rock of the family. She always had an open door for family and friends. Her “come see me” and “how is everybody” were heard often. She supported each and every one of us; excelled at blackberry cakes; was an excellent seamstress; made many specialty cakes; made numerous ceramic pieces and served her community as a dispatcher for the Concord Rescue Squad and Concord Volunteer Fire Department for thirteen years.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Concord Volunteer Fire Department, 12573 Richmond Hwy, Concord, VA 24538 and Mt. Olivet UMC Cemetery Fund, 1832 Mt. Olivet Church Rd., Lynchburg, VA 24504.
