Lucille Tibbs Hendrick Walton, 99, of Lynchburg, went to be with the Lord on Thursday August 20, 2015. Born March 24, 1916, she was the daughter of Elver Hugh & Nannie Johnson Tibbs and a member of Union Hill Baptist Church.
Lucille was twice widowed by Charlie Hendrick & Robert H. Walton. In addition she was preceded in death by Sons, Alfred Hugh & Charles David (C.D.) Hendrick; Brother, Larry Harper and Sister Etta Mae Harper.
She is survived by a son and his wife, Robert E. & Ollie P. Walton, Lynchburg; Grandchildren: Michael P. Walton, Robert E. Walton, Jr. & Wendell E. Walton, 6 Great-Grandchildren, 7 Great-Great Grandchildren, Niece and her husband, Hazel & Hubert Epperson & other numerous Nieces & Nephews.
Lucille worked as a seamstress in a garment factory until retirement in 1979. She continued her love of sewing and crocheting for many years & also loved gardening & bird watching. Until the end, she was always forthcoming with words of appreciation & love. She would want to convey to her family and friends her sincere gratitude for blessing her life in so many ways as she did in our lives.
The family will receive friends today, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg.
A funeral service will be conducted Monday, August 24, 2015 at Union Hill Baptist Church at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior.
