Lucy Belle Massie Pinion (age 101) of Bedford, died Friday, January 6, 2017 at Oakwood Manor. Born in Bedford County on February 6, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Herman Massie and Annie Layne Massie. In addition to her parents, Lucy was preceded in death by her husband. Dallas Haywood Pinion; two sisters, Homie Keesee and Nellie Arrington; and four brothers, Jake, Harry Walter and Herman Massie.
Lucy was a member of the Bedford Baptist Church and worked at the Bedford Elementary School and Campbell Rest Home.
She is survived by two sons, Dallas Pinion of Dinwiddie and Carroll Pinion of Crimora, one daughter, Alice Watson of Bedford, six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, one brother, Robert Massie of Bedford and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation for family and friends will be at Tharp Funeral Home, 320 N. Bridge Street, Bedford, VA, on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. with a memorial service immediately following at 1:00 P.M in Tharp Chapel. A graveside service will follow at Virginia Memorial Park, 11490 Forest Road, Forest, VA.
