Lula Gibson Nicely
Lula Mae Gibson Nicely, 66, of Big Island, died Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at her residence. Born May 12, 1944 in Bedford County, a daughter of the late Ruth M. Goff Gibson and George Buck Gibson.
Lula was a member of Hunting Creek Baptist Church. She enjoyed walking the Blue Ridge Parkway and listening to the King of Rock\"™n Roll, Elvis Presley.
Lula was the loving mother of four children, Ricky Nicely and wife, Michelle of Big Island, Tommy Nicely and wife, Dawn of Boonsboro, Vincent Nicely and wife, Connie of Big Island and Jason Nicely and wife, Rebecca of Rustburg; six grandchildren, Kevin Nicely, Tiffany Goff, Aaron Nicely, Ashley Nicely, Cullen Nicely and Owen Nicely; one great-grandson, Wade Goff; two sisters, Sally Logwood and Phyllis Watkins both of Big Island; one brother, Alvin Gibson of Hardy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Hills, 3300 Rivermont Ave., Lynchburg, VA 24503 or Lynchburg Hematology-Oncology At The Pearson Cancer Center, 1701 Thomson Dr., Lynchburg, VA 24501.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM, Friday, June 18, 2010 at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Bedford, 586-3443.
