Lynne Ramsey Walker

Lynne Ramsey Walker, passed away November 6, 2021. She was born December 27, 1935 in Lynchburg, Va. and was the daughter of the late George Peters Ramsey and Lois Aldridge Ramsey. Lynne was preceded in death by her husband, George Calder Walker, Jr.

She was a graduate of EC Glass High School and James Madison University, where she was listed in “ Who’s Who in College Universities.” Lynne received a degree in Library Science from the University of Virginia and was a librarian at James River Day School for 10 years. She was a former member of the Lynchburg Junior League and Lynchburg Garden Club. Lynne was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church where she served as a member of the Vestry, a Eucharistic Minister, Lector, and Altar Guild Member.

Surviving are three sons: George C. Walker, III (and his wife Shawnya) and her son, Jerid Prater, Stewart Ramsey Walker and David Chandler Walker and granddaughter, Madison Elizabeth Walker; family friend, Della Mosby. Lynne is also survived by one brother, George Peters Ramsey, Jr. and his wife, Harriett Taylor Ramsey; brother in law William McKenzie Walker and his wife, Diane Matthews Walker and many nieces and nephews.

A private graveside will be held in Spring Hill Cemetery with The Rev. Chris Roussell officiating. A reception for friends and family will begin at 1 p.m. Wednesday November 10, 2021 at Oakwood Country Club. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Johns Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 3123 Lynchburg Va, 24503.
