Mabel Alleman , 84, of Rustburg, died Wednesday, July 29, 2015. She was the wife of Paul Simon Alleman, for 62 years.
Born Tuesday, September 02, 1930 in Chambersburg, PA, Mabel was a daughter of the late Luther Monroe Davis and the late Mae Sword Davis.
In addition to her parents, Mabel was preceded in death by a brother, Garnet Davis.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children: Danny Alleman and his wife, Debbie, of Troy, VA, Linda Ripley and her husband, Bruce, of Lynchburg, and Barbie Alleman, of Rustburg, a granddaughter Carrie Elizabeth Alleman, of Rustburg, a brother, John Henry Davis, of Chambersburg, PA, two sisters: Hazel Bernecker and her husband, David, of St. Thomas, PA, and Helen Thomas, of Chambersburg, PA, a brother-in-law, Robert Alleman and his wife, Rosie, of Chambersburg, PA and a sister in-law, Bertha Kuhn and her husband, Harold, of St. Thomas, PA.
Mabel was a loving wife, mother and “Ganny”. For many years she taught Sunday School at Hyland Heights Baptist Church, where she was a charter member. She volunteered at the YMCA for 13 years and loved the friends she made there. Mabel was great with crafts, especially sewing, cross stitch and crochet. She adopted everyone and loved to sit on her porch, feeding and watching the birds. She was a member of the Gideon Auxillary. Mabel never met a stranger and loved talking to anyone and everyone. She had a huge heart for people and loved the Lord.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Sunday, August 02, 2015 at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory. A celebration of Mabel’s life will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Monday, August 03, 2015 at Hyland Heights Baptist Church, 11452 Wards Road, with Pastor Carl Weiser officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
