Madeline Fry Fielder, 98, of Lynchburg, departed this life on December 25, 2020.
Born October 15, 1922 in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd Homer and Annie Lanham Fry. Madeline was preceded in death by her husband William R. (Billy) Fielder and their daughter, Linda, three sisters, and a brother.
Madeline is survived by her sons, William R. Fielder, Jr. of Fort Worth, TX; Thomas D. Fielder and wife, Kelley of Huddleston, VA; daughter, Mary Jane Tinker and husband, Mike of Asheboro, NC; seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
A lifelong member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, Madeline retired from the Lynchburg City School System after 25 years of service. She loved to sing and always had a song in her heart. Her Irish lullabies and sense of humor will be missed by all who knew her.
The family would like to thank Madeline’s friends and the staff at Bentley Commons for the companionship and care she received while there. She enjoyed being with others and loved the varied activities, especially if they included singing!
A private service will be held at a later date. Those wishing to remember Madeline with a memorial are asked to consider a contribution to the American Heart Association at www.heart.org, 1-800-242-8721, or 4217 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, VA 23060-9979.
