Madelyne “Mady” Record Raymond, 96, formerly of South Grafton, Massachusetts, passed away Friday, May 26, 2023, surrounded by her loving family at Runk & Pratt, Liberty Ridge in Lynchburg, Virginia. Born in New Hampshire, she was the daughter of the late Salmana Peter Ricard and Ida May (Boyle) Record. She was the wife of the late George F. Raymond, Sr. She was also predeceased by her siblings Ida Washburn, Kenneth Ricard, Flora “Flo” Holewa, Elizabeth “Libby” Beaudry, Salman “Buddy” Record, Norman Record, Donald Inglis, Carol, and Gerald “Jerry” Ricard, and the loving partner of her son Richard, Jenny Healy.
Mady leaves to mourn her passing a sister, Millicent Mackowiak of Dudley, Massachusetts, her sons George F. Raymond, Jr. (Susan) of Forest, Virginia and Richard P. Raymond of Fort Wayne, Indiana, her grandchildren, Andrew G. Raymond (Michelle) of Roanoke, Virginia and Valerie A. Maxey (Heath) of Rustburg, Virginia, one special great grandson, Eli F. Raymond, and a special sister-in-law, Pauline Ricard of Jaffrey, New Hampshire. She also leaves behind a multitude of loving nieces and nephews.
Mady grew up in Jaffrey, New Hampshire, where she was one of a large, loving family. She liked to tell stories of climbing Mt. Monadnock and swimming in the lake. As a teenager, she moved to South Grafton, Massachusetts, where she met and married her love of 65 years, George. She graduated from Quinsigamond Community College as a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant, working for many years at Grafton State Hospital and, after its closing, as a counselor at Valley Adult Day Center. Upon retirement, she and George moved to Barefoot Bay, Florida, where they spent happy days in the sun and welcomed the visits of their many family members and friends. They loved to cruise and took many to the Caribbean and Hawaii. In 2009, they moved to the Lynchburg area to be near their family.
Mady spent her last years at Runk & Pratt, Liberty Ridge, Lynchburg. The family would like to thank the staff for their dedicated care of Mady. They would also like to thank Affinity Care of Virginia for their assistance and dear friends Richard and Darnelle Bordeaux.
A memorial service will be held in South Grafton at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory-Lynchburg and Roney Funeral Home, North Grafton, Massachusetts.
