Magalene Rockwell Dalton
Magalene Rockwell Dalton, 67, of Forest, VA, went to be with Jesus on Monday, June 06, 2011. She was the wife of Conner L. Dalton for 48 years.
Born Tuesday, March 14, 1944 in Columbus County, NC, Magalene was a daughter of the late David Frank Rockwell and the late Beulah Mae Rockwell.
In addition to her parents, Magalene was preceded in death by a brother, Franklin Rockwell.
In addition to her husband, Magalene is survived by two daughters, Annette Fairburn and her husband, Scott, of Forest, and Cathy McGrath and her husband, George, of Rustburg; two brothers, Thelton \"T.R.\" Rockwell and his wife, Bonnie, of Matoaca, VA, and Joseph \"Tom\" Rockwell and his wife, Sandra, of Hallsboro, NC; five sisters, Margie Wallace of Fredericksburg, VA, Martha \"Lene\" Spivey and her husband, James, of Clarendon, NC, Polly Spivey and her husband, Donald, of Vinegar Hill, NC, Betty \"Lois\" McGee and her husband, James, of Nicholas, SC, Bonita Dalton and her husband, Ernest, of Sutherlin, VA; and seven grandchildren, Dallas Evans, Mickayla Evans, Lauren Fairburn, Caitlyn Fairburn, Gabriel McGrath, Madison McGrath, and Benjamin McGrath.
Magalene was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She especially loved her grandchildren and was loved very much in return. She was a very good cook, and loved gardening around her home and camping with her family. She was a member of Hyland Heights Baptist Church, where she was involved in several bible study programs.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 on Wednesday, June 08, 2011 at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, June 08, 2011 in the chapel of Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, with the Rev. Carl Weiser and the Rev. Dr. Luke Kauffman officiating. Interment will follow in Virginia Memorial Park.
