Mamie Elizabeth Witt Johnson

Mamie Elizabeth Witt Johnson, 87, of Thaxton passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Berkshire Health & Rehab. She was born in Bedford County on September 28, 1927, a daughter of the late Jerry Burton Witt and Ruby Stevens Witt. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Joseph Thomas Johnson; one son, Raymond J. Johnson; one brother, Roy Witt; and two sisters, Margaret Powers and Mary Meador.
Mamie was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church in Bedford.
She is survived by her daughter, Helen Marie Reed; three sons, Larry D. Johnson and wife, Mary, Edward L. Johnson and Roger L. Johnson; 13 grandchildren, Jimmy, Jennifer, Teresa, April, Joy, Dee, Jason, Cindy, Paul, Dixie, Jeremy, Dallas and Veronica; 21 Great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Mattie King, also numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.
A Funeral Service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Tharp Funeral Chapel with Rev. Tino Marcielle officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Friday, January 23, 2015 at Tharp Funeral Home in Bedford.
