Marean Hilber

July 5, 1938 — October 3, 2021

Marean Hilber was born in Goode, Virginia on July 5, 1938 to the late Mack and Rebecca Arrington Hilber.  He departed this life and into entered eternal rest on Sunday, October 3, 2021 at Lynchburg General Hospital.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers:  Mack Hilber, Jr, Robert Hibler, James Hilber, Edward Hilber; and three sisters:  Mariah Mitchell, Mattie Morris-Johnson, and Elnora Jefferson.

Marean was a faithful man of God and a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Goode, VA.  He loved to attend services and was always willing to serve in the ministry in any way that he could.

Marean cherished family and friends.  He enjoyed spending time with his immediate and extended family.  One of his favorite pastimes was attending his annual family reunion.   He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather.  He left an indelible mark on the many lives he touched.  He had a servant’s heart, always giving to those in need without expecting anything in return.

Marean Hilber was a hard worker and held positions at Bunker Hill Foods and Piedmont Flour Mill.  His most notable professional accomplishment was founding Hilber Mason Service, in which he provided masonry services for over 50 years.  Over the years he has built a very successful business along with his sons and other employees.  Through his various professional relationships, he became a friend and mentor to many.

Marean leaves to cherish his memory: his wife of 63 years, Rosa Hilber; two daughters:  Jeannette Hilber, Marion (King) Douglas; three sons:  Edward (Mildred) Hilber, Gary Hilber, Charles (Roberta) Hilber; five grandchildren:  Kanika Preston, Kushanna Preston, Gary (Ciane) Hilber, Jr, Kalyn Hilber, Skylyr Spinner-McQueen; three great grandchildren:  Zyhier Hilber, Zuri Hilber, Nolyn McQueen; two sisters:  Florence Spinner, Sadie (Joseph) Taborn, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and loving friends.

Services will be held in Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg Chapel, Saturday October 9, 2021, at 2:00 PM. Friends may call one hour prior. Burial will follow in First Baptist Church Cemetery, Goode, VA.
