Margaret (Marge) Bowman, 90, of Lynchburg, VA, died Thursday, January 12, 2017. She was the wife of the late Nathaniel Robert Bowman.
Born November 11, 1926 in Madisonville, VA, Margaret was a daughter of the late Charles Henry and Ella Eulalie “Eula” Gibson Carson
In addition to her husband and parents Margaret was preceded in death by five brothers: Cecil Carson and his wife, Ruth Perkins Ziegler Carson; Robert Carson and his wife, Maria Wong Elder Carson, both of Madisonville, VA; Russell Carson, of Clayton, NC; Edward Carson, of Jefferson, LA; Howard Carson and his wife Marie Metcalf Carson both of Madisonville, VA.
Margaret is survived by her children, Robert C. Bowman and his wife, Suzanne, of Bumpass, VA, Charles C. Bowman and his wife, Elizabeth, of Aiken, SC, and Katherine Bowman Saunders and her husband, James, of Lynchburg, five grandchildren, Jeremy Bowman, of Richmond, VA, Jennifer Grigsby and her husband, Brandon, of Fishersville, VA, Nathaniel Bowman, of Neptune Beach, FL, Marissa Bowman, of Aiken, SC, Jonathan Bowman, of Aiken, SC, a great granddaughter, Evelyn Grigsby, of Fishersville, VA and a sister, Joyce C. Locke, of Charlottesville, VA, and many other family and friends.
Margaret, a resident of Bentley Commons, had a long career as a nurse at Virginia Baptist Hospital. After retirement she continued to volunteer as a Pink Lady. She loved to travel, (especially to the beach) and was an avid gardener.
Visitation will be held Friday, January 20, from 6:00 to 7:30 P.M. at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg.
