Margaret Marie Campbell Manley

May 14, 1935 — December 5, 2014

Margaret Marie Campbell Manley, 79, of Big Island, went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 5, 2014 at Virginia Baptist Hospital. Born in Amherst Co., VA on May 14, 1935, a daughter of the late Stokes and Florence Gibson Campbell. She was preceded in death by her late husband’s, Charles Morehead and William “Billy” Manley. Margaret was the last of her generation and also in addition to her parents and husbands, Margaret was preceded in death by 13 siblings, Lillian, Robert, Ernest, Elmo, Pauline, Otey, Willie, Margie, Edna, Peggy, Virginia, Rachel and Gordon.

Margaret enjoyed going to the “YMCA” and for long walks. She loved spending time with her family especially her grandkids. She was a loving member of Hunting Creek Baptist Church. She also enjoyed volunteering her time with Lynchburg General Hospital and other businesses.

Margaret is survived by her three sons, C.V. Morehead and wife, Carolyn, Don Morehead and wife, Carolyn and Larry Morehead and wife, Roxane; five grandchildren, Jody Christy, Charlene, Chad and Chelsea; four great-grandchildren, Tucker, Justin, Kayla and Parker and baby Jones on the way; also numerous other nieces, nephews and a host of many friends.

A celebration of Margaret’s life will be conducted at 11:00 am on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at Hunting Creek Baptist Church with Pastor Carey Snellings officiating. There will be a reception in the fellowship hall following the service. The family will receive friends on Monday, December 8, 2014 at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Bedford from 4:00 until 6:00 pm and all other times at the home of Don and Carolyn Morehead.
