Margaret Marie Scott, known to many as “Boogie” was born to Viola Mae Jackson Scott and Arelius Scott Sr., on September 1, 1930, in Lynchburg Virginia. Boogie went to her heavenly home on Sunday, November 27, 2022, surrounded by family. In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by brothers James, William, and Arelius, and sisters Susie, Lillian, Naomi, Ethel, and Mary. As well as her Granddaughter Michelle Franklin.
Margaret joined the church at an early age and for most of her life, she called Rose Chapel Baptist her church home.
Boogie was employed with Central Virginia Training Center, where she retired in 1992. She enjoyed cooking, shopping, socializing, and sitting on the front porch of her home on 11th street. Boogie enjoyed listening to gospel music and dancing to the oldie but goodies, she loved purple anything, as well as a good hat. Boogie never met a stranger, to know her was to love her.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her sister Lucille Snead and family, and her four children Mary Franklin, Lawrence Scott, Wanda Scott (Mike), and Sherry Scott; grandchildren Michael Franklin, Jemelle Scott, Jevonna Scott, Chantel Spinner (Shauntay), and Shamir Scott; great-grandchildren, Meisha Franklin, Mariah Franklin, Bryan Pollard, Michelah Scott, Avrielle Spinner, Jazel Scott, and Aylah Spinner. Additionally, a host of many other relatives, family, and friends.
We the family would like to express our gratitude to her loyal caregivers Brianna Walker and Priscilla Jones, as well the staff at Centra Hospice. Thank you to all the family and friends who have shown kindness during this time.
A Funeral for Margaret Boogie Scott will occur at 3 p.m. on Saturday, December 3, 2022, at Rose Chapel Baptist Church. A viewing will be held for one hour before the service. The family will receive guests at 1113 11th street in Lynchburg.
