Margaret Mary “Meg” Brennan

March 5, 1923 — April 29, 2022

Margaret Mary Lawless Brennan, born March 5, 1923, went to heaven on April 29, 2022, to join her beloved husband, B. Elliott Brennan, sons Peter Elliott and Christopher Sean. She leaves to celebrate her rich and full life, her two cherished sons Robert Owen and T. Patrick and daughters-in-law Katie, Denyse, and Terry; her seven grandchildren, Matthew, Katherine Braccia (Rob), Shaun (Brianna), Owen (Christine Hitchins), Thomas (Shelley Blades), Coogan (Kathleen Hersey), Elliott, “bonus granddaughters” Mirela and Ina Lynch; and her six great grandchildren, Leo, Jude, Ezra, Poppy, Ellyanna, and Olivia Brennan.

Meg had a long, rich and full life. Born in Far Rockaway New York, she was a proud graduate of the College of Saint Elizabeth in Morristown, New Jersey, and enjoyed a career in design at Macy’s where she met the love of her life, B. Elliott Brennan. Together they raised their four sons, including Christopher Sean, who was born with Down Syndrome, and Meg and B.E. always held up Chris as the “angel” of their family. Meg and B.E. remained a steadfast and successful team for more than 50 years of marriage and working together selling furniture to designers in New York.

Thirty years ago, Meg and B.E. along with Christopher relocated from Long Island, New York, to Central Virginia where they met many wonderful friends and participated in the adventures of their Lynchburg grandsons. One of her most favorite past times was cruising Lynchburg in her spiffy red Honda often with Chris riding shotgun. Ever diplomatic, she did come right to the point, and there was never any doubt as to where she stood about matters, but she was very generous with her affection for those she loved.

Meg will be dearly missed for her wit, wisdom, and unconditional love for her family. She will also be remembered by family and friends as a result of many wonderful and happy memories.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at Holy Cross Catholic Church on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at 11:00 am. In place of flowers, please consider a donation in Meg’s name to the Arc of Central Virginia.

Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg is assisting the family.
