Margaret Lucille Ramsey Laughlin, 84, formerly of Ocean Pines, Maryland, died Friday, February 9, 2018. She is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years, John Lawrence Laughlin.
Margaret was born July 1, 1933 in Portland, Oregon. She was the daughter of the late William Elmer Ramsey and Josephine Resing Ramsey.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter Kathleen Laughlin of Charlottesville, VA, her son John Laughlin of Chesapeake, VA, her daughter Casey Sumpter and husband Sam of Bedford, VA, two grandsons, Collin and Chris Sumpter, her nephew Mark Nielsen and niece Margaret Barton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Judy Nielsen.
Margaret worked as a professional editor and was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Berlin, Maryland. Margaret was passionate about many things in her life. She loved to travel and visited all 50 states and many of the national parks over her lifetime. She also traveled to Canada, Mexico and Russia along with favorite trips to the major countries of Europe. She loved to sing and was a member of many local chorales and choirs throughout her life. She was a talented watercolor artist and avid photographer as well.
A memorial service for Margaret will be held at a later date at her church in Berlin, Maryland.
