Margaret Sheppard Viar

Margaret Sheppard Viar, 87, of Lynchburg, died on Thursday, March 10, 2011.  Margaret was born in Glenolden, PA on June 12, 1923, a daughter of the late William J. Gorman and the late Margaret Murray Gorman.

 Margaret is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Knowlton and husband, Verland of NH, her sons, Banner A. Sheppard, Jr. of DE and Tom Sheppard and wife, Caryl of Lynchburg; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; her sister, Ruth Smith of AR and her former husband, Jimmie Viar of Lynchburg.  She was predeceased by her husband, Banner A. Sheppard, Sr.

 The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg.  A funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. Jeff Scott officiating.  Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at Gracelawn Memorial Park in New Castle, DE.
