Margaret Thacker Steppe, 89, of Lynchburg died Sunday June 28, 2015. She was the devoted wife of Lewis Bailey Steppe, Jr.
Margaret was born in Lynchburg July 6, 1925 a daughter of the late Hunter Thacker and Alpha Thompson Thacker. She worked as an office manager with Montague Betts and then later with Seven Hills Nursing Home. She loved to sing with the Sweet Adelines and the Tommy Dorsey Band.
In addition to her husband she is survived by her two daughters: Constance Grassi and her husband Louis of Forest, and Alice Porterfield and husband Ponzi of Newport, step-daughter Moninna Martone of Sarasota, FL, step-son Lewis Steppe, III of Rustburg, two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and a sister-in-law Elaine Thacker of Lynchburg.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday July 1st, 2015 at Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg.
