Margaret Woods Hynes, 93, of Lynchburg, died Tuesday, July 5, 2016.
Maggie was always full of life and had high entertainment value. She amused her family with stories about her living in Columbia, working on Capitol Hill for over 40 years, growing up in Amherst County and living at The Summit. She loved many things including beach holidays, lobster bisque, dogs, the Redskins, Bloody Marys, yard sales, Chicos and the Republican Party (most of the time). She will be missed by friends and family. Life will be a bit duller without her.
Margaret was born on March 8, 1923 in Amherst, Va. to the late Thomas Dabney Woods and the late Flora Williams Woods.
She is survived by three nephews, George Thompson, Thomas Padgett, and William Padgett; two nieces, Julia Maloney and Bettie Farmer; and one sister, Nancy Woods Thompson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, William Patrick Hynes; and two sisters, Mary Woods Layton and Julia Woods Padgett.

A graveside service will be held at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church Cemetery in Amherst on July 30, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Todd Vie officiating.
