Margaret Ware Watts, 91, of South Boston, formerly of Big Island, died Wednesday, May 4, 2016. Born in Amherst County, Va. she was the daughter of the late Talmadge D. Ware and Mary Foster Ware. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Loyd M. Watts; two sisters, Frances W. Wilson and Mildred W. Snead; and a son-in-law, Thomas Wayne Keatts, Sr.

She is survived by her two daughters, Barbara W. Keatts of South Boston and Nancy A. Watts of Mount Sidney; three grandchildren, Mark B. Hughes of Richmond, Bryan M. Keatts of South Boston, and Hilary E. Sullenberger of Richmond; and one great-grandson, Joshua T. Keatts.

Mrs. Watts graduated from Big Island High School and Central Virginia Community College. She retired from Bedford County Public Schools after 26 years of service as reading and teacher’s aides. She was a very active member of Big Island Baptist Church where she served in many capacities including deacon, Sunday school teacher, and choir member.

Mrs. Watts was a devoted mother and grandmother. In addition to her family and friends, she loved her Lord, her church, the beauty of nature, gardening, and all of the family’s pets.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 6, 2016 at Big Island Baptist Church.

A Celebration of Margaret’s Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 6, 2016 at Big Island Baptist Church with the Rev. Bryon LePere and the Rev. Mike Watkins officiating. Interment will follow at Big Island Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Big Island Baptist Church, 10747 Lee Jackson Hwy, Big Island, Va. 24526.

Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, is assisting the family.
