Margaret “Peggy” Warren Slusher, 75, of Lynchburg, died Tuesday, January 22, 2019, at Westminster-Canterbury.
She was the loving wife of Kenneth Wilkes Slusher for 19 years. She was the former wife of the late Thomas R. Pugh.
Born in Alexandria, Virginia, on July 25, 1943, she was a daughter of the late Charles Edward Warren and the late Sabina Vaughan Warren. Peggy was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She grew up in Roanoke, Virginia and was a graduate of William Fleming High School.
She was a graduate of Virginia Baptist Hospital School of Nursing class of 1964. Upon graduation, she fulfilled a life-long dream as a Registered Nurse at Virginia Baptist Hospital, where she nurtured and cared for others for 41 years. She was a member of the Sweet Adeline’s International Quartet and Chorus. She also enjoyed singing as a member of the St. Andrew Presbyterian Church Choir.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons, William Thomas Pugh and Marshall Warren Pugh (Rachel); stepdaughters, Dawn Kirk (Rick), Cheryl Mathis, and Laura Slusher; nine grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Colton, Caleb, Zachary, Ricky, Hannah, Joey, Nicole, and Ashley; sister, Jean Puckett (Richard); and brother, Charles Warren (Sandy). Peggy was preceded in death by sister, Bee Hamilton (Norris) and son-in-law, Billy Mathis.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, January 25, 2019, in The Commons of Westminster-Canterbury with Chaplain Kristi Miles of Westminster-Canterbury and the Rev. Peter Thompson of First Presbyterian Church officiating.
