Marguerite (Peggy) Bailey Holt

Marguerite (Peggy) Bailey Holt passed away peacefully at the age of 97 on July 21, 2024, at Westminster Canterbury, Lynchburg. Born on June 15, 1927, in Shaker Heights, Ohio, to Rosamond and Clayton Bailey, she was preceded in death by her parents, her husband C. Duval Holt, Jr., and her sisters Anne Jackson and Susan Fralin.

Peggy will be deeply missed by her daughters, Becky O'Brian and her husband Bobby, Meg Fontana and her husband Ed, and Beth Holt. Known as Ganny to her cherished grandchildren- Brandon Landes (husband Jason), Robert O'Brian (wife Whitney), Matthew Fontana, Adam Fontana (wife Raegan), Sarah Hudson (husband Jonah), Bennett Deddens (wife April), and Anna Deddens, and her many precious great- grandchildren- Leland, Charlie, and Alex Landes, Cullen, Althea, and Ray O'Brian, Sam and Ben Thompson, Ava Gray, Lila, and Holt Fontana, Marylee Fontana, Gabe, Avery, Shiloh, Boadie, Millie, and Sawyer Hudson, Opal Deddens, and Clay and Tinsley Wood, she will forever be missed and remembered.

 An accomplished equestrian and an avid reader, Peggy was active in the Junior League, American Red Cross, and Meals on Wheels of Lynchburg. She had a forty-year career at Virginia Handcrafts and was the “go to” VCR programmer on her street. For the last 16 years of her life, Peggy lived at the Heritage Condominiums where she and her many wonderful friends lovingly referred to themselves as “Convicts” at “the Home”.

 The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of the Westminster Canterbury Memory Care Center and especially Scott Shaw for his loving care and attention to Peggy.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, July 29, at 11am, at Spring Hill Cemetery.

Those wishing to make a memorial donation in Peggy’s name are asked to consider Meals on Wheels of Lynchburg.
