Maria Monica Larraguibel died peacefully on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 in Lynchburg, Va at the age of 74.
Monica is survived by husband, Luis Alberto Gonzalez ; children, Lorena Velasquez, Pilar Hellard, Sara Gonzalez and Vicente Gonzalez; grandchildren, Nicolas Velasquez, Forrest Hellard, Manuel Velasquez and Natali Velasquez; sister, Anita Caracci. She is preceded in death by her parents René and Magdalena Larraguibel and sisters Nene and Olguita Larraguibel.
Monica was born on October 26, 1943 in Santiago, Chile. She graduated with a degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Chile’s Faculty of Medicine in 1977. She leaves us with a mission brilliantly fulfilled.
The passion for her profession and patients; dedication to and love for her children and family; her solidarity for the less fortunate; the love for Chile and the USA, her adopted country; her fight for justice, especially in the times of the odious dictatorship in her homeland; her boundless love for her parents René and Magdalena; her smile and optimism; and her courage to face and overcome obstacles, remain her life’s legacy that give us strength to continue living and trying to understand and accept her physical absence.
A Memorial mass is scheduled for Friday, July 27th at 12:00 pm at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Lynchburg, Va.
Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, is assisting the family.
