Rose Marie Arthur Fisher, 84, of Bedford passed away Wednesday, September 29, 2010. She was born on January 28, 1926 in Bedford County, the daughter of the late Charlie Kent Arthur and Pearl Susan Moran Arthur. In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by four brothers, Raymond, Robert, Dean and James Arthur; and two sisters, Christine A. Williams and Irene A. Whorley.
She is survived by her husband of fifty one years, Earl C. Fisher, Jr. of Bedford; two sons, James Phillip Mitchell and his wife, Sharon, Charles H. Mitchell and his wife, Joyce, all of Bedford; two daughters, Sue (Mitchell) Firebaugh and her husband, Steve, of Roanoke and Carol (Mitchell) Creasy and her husband, Clifton, of Goode; five grandchildren, Sonja (Firebaugh) Scott and her husband, Zak, of Richmond; Laura (Mitchell) Hoffman and her husband Joel, of Fort Wayne, Indiana; Rev. Ashley Abarca-Mitchell and her husband David of Charlottesville; Heather (Mitchell) Childress and her husband Troy of Lynchburg and Matthew C. Mitchell and his wife Samantha (Mayhew) of Bedford; seven great-grandchildren; Justin and Clay Scott of Richmond, Ethan and Isabelle Mitchell of Bedford, Tristan and Piper Childress of Lynchburg and Sophia Hoffman of Fort Wayne, Indiana. She is also survived by one sister, Thelma (Arthur) Johnson and her husband, Jasper of Bedford and several nieces and nephews and their families.
Marie was an active member of Timber Ridge Baptist Church and loved working in the church throughout her life.

Services will be held at Timber Ridge Baptist Church on Saturday, October 2nd at 11:00 am with the Reverend Rick Foster and the Reverend Ray Lyons officiating. Interment will be in the Timber Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery following the service.
The family will receive friends on Friday, October 1st from 6:00-8:00 PM at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Bedford.
