Marie Caldwell Neighbors, 87, of Concord went home on the arm of our Heavenly Father December 11, 2011. She was the devoted wife of 65 years to the late Warren Benjamin Neighbors, Sr.
Born June 29, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Washington Hunter Caldwell and the late Mary Bagby Caldwell.
In addition to her husband, and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, William Caldwell, and a daughter in-law, Jaunett Neighbors.
She is survived by two sons: Warren Neighbors, Jr., of Lynchburg and Milton R. Neighbors and wife, Judy of Hurt, six grandchildren: Warren III, Tonesa, Ray, Kelly, Aaron, Jonathan and 13 great-grandchildren, two brothers: Luther Caldwell, of Rustburg, and Steve Caldwell, of Lynchburg, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mrs. Neighbors loved family gatherings, with good food and music to be shared. She especially loved caring for her family. To her there were no strangers. Everyone was welcomed with open arms in her home. She loved gardening, both flowers and vegetables and always canned the fruits of her labor.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, December 14, 2013 at 1:00 pm in Concord Cemetery, Phoebe Pond Road, Concord, VA, with Pastor Dwight Weaver officiating. A visitation will be held Friday, December 13, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg.
