Marie Governor France, 87, of Madison Heights, Virginia departed this life on Tuesday, May 28, 2019.
Born on October 7, 1931 in Lynchburg, Va., she was the daughter of the late John S. Governor, Sr. and Milton Smith Governor. Her dear husband of 67 years, Wilton Robert “Bobby” France, Jr. just passed on April 29, 2019. Marie was preceded in death by her infant son, John Robert France, and her siblings John S. Governor, Jr., Ruby Elizabeth Governor, Lewis Governor, Mildred Wade and Virginia Graham.
Marie worked at her father’s grocery store, John S. Governor Grocery Store and later retired from General Electric after 29 years of service. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to so many. She was a former member of Bethesda Presbyterian Church and more recently a member of Northminster Evangelical Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her son, Rick France of Forest; two grandsons, Nathan Scott (Vitoria) of Richmond, and Tyler Jordan (Allison) of Lynchburg, a granddaughter, Ryleigh Noelle France of Dade City, FL, along with numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 31, 2019 at 1 p.m. at the Fort Hill Memorial Park with the Rev. David Garrison of Northminster Evangelical Presbyterian Church officiating.
