Marie Delores Huyett

Marie Delores Huyett, 81, passed away on August 19, 2024 in Lynchburg, VA following a long battle with kidney disease. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard Huyett, who passed away in 2020.

Marie is survived by her two sons, Scott (Jackie) of Indian Land, SC, and Sean (Leigh) of Lynchburg, VA. She was a cherished grandmother to Luke, Joy, and Ian. Marie also leaves behind her siblings: Anthony Cimasko, Stephanie Donovan, John Cimasko, and Edward Cimasko.

Born in Manhattan, New York in 1943, Marie was the oldest of Casmere and Marie Cimasko's five children. Marie was raised in Dumont, NJ, which is where she would later meet Rich. Married for 54 years, Marie and Rich moved from New Jersey to Virginia in 1976 and raised their sons in Woodbridge. Marie worked as the town clerk of Occoquan from 1988 until 1999. In 2009, Marie and Rich retired to Southport, NC. Marie loved living near the beach, reading, playing bridge and traveling.

 Marie’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and dialysis team of Southport, NC for their compassionate care, as well as to the St. James NEST group. The volunteers from the NEST group, along with her wonderful neighbors, enabled Marie to stay home and continue living in Southport after Rich’s passing. The family will be forever grateful for their time, support and generosity. A heartfelt thank you to the staff of Westminster Canterbury and Westminster at Home for their care during Marie’s final days.

A memorial service to celebrate Marie’s life will be held this fall in Southport.
