Marie White

Deacon Marie Lindsey White (99) passed away on November 24, 2024, at Lynchburg General hospital in Lynchburg Va. Marie was one of twelve born to James and Josephine Lindsey. Marie was a mother of nine children and had eight sisters and three brothers. Deacon Marie was preceded in death by Raymond R White (husband), (sons) Raymond White Jr and Michael White and (daughters) Joyce M Joseph, and Carolyn Helm.

 Deacon Marie professed her faith in Christ at an early age at Camp Grove Baptist Church in Danville VA and was educated in the Pittsylvania County School System. Marie moved her family to Lynchburg in the early 1950’s, and she became a member of Court Street Baptist Church in 1965. She remained a member and later confirmed as a deaconess from that time until her passing. Deacon Marie served in evangelism, outreach Fellowship Ministry, women’s Missionary Union and the Senior Adult Ministry. Deacon Marie held many occupations but was employed at Leggett’s until retirement

 Deacon Marie’s greatest treasure in life was her family. She loved her family deeply and always had a hot meal for anyone in need. In her passing, Deacon Marie leaves in love her sister Virginia Thomas. Two sons Harold (Carmelita wife) and Doug. Two daughters in law Pearl White and Alfreda White. Four daughters Debora White, Sheron Simpson, (David husband) Sylvia Hobson. Lelia Sandidge (caregiver) and special friends Steve and Sherri Dale. She also leaves behind twenty-three grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren and four fostered children with seven children between them.

 A funeral service will be held at Court Street Baptist Church on Sunday, December 1, 2024 at 2:30 P.M. with a repass following at Prayer of Faith Temple. Internment will be private
