Marietta Parker

Marietta Parker, 60, of Forest, died July 21, 2017 at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the loving wife of Roy Welsh of 20 years. Born October 12, 1956 in Lynchburg, Va., Marietta was a daughter of Marietta Alma Proffitt Hartless, and the late Wilson J. Hartless.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her siblings, Barbara Arlene Harris, John M. Hartless and wife Dawn, Steve W. Austin and wife Ida, Tammy Crouch and husband Ernie. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Marietta was a member of Thomas Road Baptist Church for 27 years and a long time and faithful employee of Kentucky Fried Chicken for 20 years. She was highly recognized for her management achievements, and loved and adored by the young employees whom she mentored.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, July 24, 2017 at Tharp Funeral Home, Madison Heights. A celebration of Marietta’s life and home going will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday July 25, 2017 at Tharp Funeral Home, Madison Heights Chapel. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
