Marilyn Ann Carter, 67, of Altavista, Virginia, departed this world peacefully on Friday, January 19, 2024, at Lynchburg General Hospital after a short illness.
She was a graduate of Rustburg High School, CVCC, and a former employee of CB Fleet. Marilyn enjoyed playing golf and raising cocker spaniels; she had two Brandon and Buffy. One of her favorite past times was riding country roads with family. She loved the outdoors and playing golf where she broke the course record for women at Cedar Hills Golf Course.
She was preceded in death by her brothers; T.J. Carter III of Lynchburg, Virginia, and Oscar Reksten of Orlando, Florida; parents; Thomas James Carter, Jr. and Helen Gordon Carter of Lynchburg, Virginia.
Surviving are her sisters and brothers-in-law, Jean and (Morris) Logwood of Altavista, Jeanette and (Lesile) Farmer of North Carolina, brothers Robert Carter of Lynchburg, Howard and (Diane) Reksten of Patchogue, New York; sister-in-law Suzanne Reksten of Orlando, Florida; aunts and uncle Geraldine and Bill Roberston and Pat Singleton of Lynchburg. A special niece Shannon Carter and number of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. at Fort Hill Memorial Park, Lynchburg, Virginia on Friday, January 26, 2024.
