Marilyn Carlson McDonald, 78, of Forest, Va. died on June 19, 2015. She was the wife of James Edward McDonald.
Marilyn was born on May 22, 1937, in Jamestown, N.Y. to the late Frank Maynard Carlson and the late Millicent Anderson Carlson. She devoted her life to caring for her husband, children, and fellow church members of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Patricia Johnson. Marilyn is survived by her husband, James Edward McDonald; five sons and step-sons and their spouses, Robert A. Warren of Highland Village, Texas, James D. Warren of Roanoke, Va., James E. McDonald, Jr., of Phoenix, Ariz., Steven W. McDonald, of Maumelle, Ark., and David M. McDonald of Westin, Conn.; her daughter, Susan Head of Madison Heights, Va.; her brother, Ralph M. Carlson of Suquamish, Wash., as well as 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 25, 2015 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Dennis S. Roberts officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church Columbarium. The family will receive friends at the church following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 1000 Langhorne Rd, Lynchburg, VA 24503 or Forest Volunteer Rescue Squad and Fire Department, PO Box 140, Forest, VA 24551.
