Marion Jackson Duclos, 88, of Lynchburg, departed this life on September 11, 2012, at Virginia Baptist Hospital. She was the loving and devoted wife of the late Robert E. Duclos for 49 years. Born December 16, 1923 in Lynchburg, she was a daughter of the late Tazewell P. Jackson and the late Lucy Adams Jackson. She was preceded in death by her sister Elizabeth J. Green and two brothers, Tazewell P. Jackson, Jr. and Isaac Adams Jackson.
She is survived by her children: Betsy Hovda (Vince) and Edna Puckette (Steve) of Lynchburg, and Bobbie Wright (Steve) of Lexington, NC; eight grandchildren: Katie Hovda (Bill Kenefic) of Reston, VA, Corinne Hovda (Russell Bryant) of Greenville, SC, Eric Hovda of Lynchburg, Sarah P. Robertson (Zane) of Lynchburg, Robert Puckette of Gordonsville, VA, Clay Wright of Baltimore, MD, Seth Wright of Durham, NC, Ethan Wright of Raleigh, NC; two great grandchildren: Griffin Kenefic and Hunter Robertson, a brother, Dabney C. Jackson (Gloria) and a sister, Ella J. Williams of Lynchburg; along with many nieces and nephews.
Marion was a graduate of E.C. Glass High School and Phillips Business College. She was a longtime member of Grace Memorial Episcopal Church where over the years she taught Sunday School, served on the Altar Guild and was a member of the E.C.W. She enjoyed cooking and sewing and was an avid fan of ACC football and basketball. Marion enjoyed many happy times with her friends at sing-a-longs, playing Bridge and Bingo, and having dinner together.
The family wishes to thank her caregivers at Westminster Canterbury for their devotion and kindness to her.
A memorial service will take place at Grace Memorial Episcopal Church on Saturday, September 22, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. with the Reverend Catharine Montgomery officiating. The family will receive friends in the church parish hall following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Grace Memorial Episcopal Church, 1021 New Hampshire Ave., Lynchburg, VA 24502.
