Marion Lavern Calloway
November 15, 1961 — January 12, 2022
Mrs. Marion Lavern Calloway, better known to many as “Missy”, departed her earthly life on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Willie Thomas Payne and Willie Beatrice Payne, born on November 15, 1961, in Newport News, Virginia. Marion’s sister Sharon Morehead also preceded her in death in 2008.
At an early age she professed her faith in Jesus Christ and attended Dominion Now Word Church where she was a dedicated member. She was faithful and consistently showed an evangelistic love for lost souls. Her freedom to bless the congregation with what the Lord was decreeing through her was kindly received and manifested in the lives of many. Marion shared the love and word of God wherever she went.
She was united in holy matrimony to Ricky Lee Calloway on January 25, 1986. This union was blessed with four children after falling in love in Marion, Virginia to later raise their family in Lynchburg, Virginia.
Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her surviving spouse: Ricky Calloway; children: Marcus (La’Quena) Payne, Kevin (Shantel) Payne, Ricky Calloway, Corey (Karina) Calloway and her stepson Antonio (LaKesha Jenkins) Mangum; ten grandchildren: Ke’Shanti, Ke’Mya, Kevin Jr., Ke’Zaria, Aniya and Marcus Payne, Nevaeh Carter, Harmáne, Rylan, and Audrina Calloway; siblings: Carolyn Harris, Stanley (Bridgitti) Payne, and Patrice (Herbert) Sabb; and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A Celebration of Marion’s life will be held at 1 p.m. at Family Life Church on Saturday, January 22, 2022. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg on Friday, January 21, 2022.
