Marion Louise Caldwell Weaver

February 2, 1929 — August 27, 2014

Marion Louise Caldwell Weaver, beloved wife of D. Bruce Weaver for sixty-three years, passed into Glory at her home on August 27, 2014. Born on February 2, 1929 in Conestoga, Pennsylvania, she was the eighth of nine children to Blaine and Grace Caldwell.

She is survived by a son, Greg Weaver and his wife, Clare of Lynchburg, a daughter, Gayle Reynolds and her husband, Kenny, of Danville, as well as four grandchildren, Sarah Griffith, Lauren Weaver, Ryan Reynolds, Austin Reynolds and one great-granddaughter, Brennan Griffith. Also surviving are two brothers, Raymond Caldwell of Millersville, PA and Ervin Caldwell of Glasgow, KY, one sister, Marie Seiger of Lynchburg, and a special nephew, Dr. Ron Hill and his wife, Jackie, of Lynchburg.

Marion was preceded in death by three brothers, Melvin, Allen and Howard Caldwell, and sisters, Dorothy Logue and Bertha Lee. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Brennen Gayle Weaver.

Marion and family moved to Lynchburg in 1960 where they served as active members of Westminster Presbyterian Church and Charter Members of The Kirk Community Church, now Forest Community Church. Marion retired as Director of Miller Home for Girls in 1992, after serving for 20 years. Her very active life allowed her to use her God given gifts of hospitality and service in ways too numerous to count.

After many trips to local hospitals and rehab facilities, Marion always appreciated the care she received from many doctors, nurses and caregivers. She especially honored the life-saving care she received from Dr. Jeff Wilson, Rheumatologist, throughout her thirty-year battle with Scleroderma.

A celebration of Marion’s life will be held at Forest Community Church on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at 11:00 AM, followed by the scattering of her ashes. Pastor Al Stewart will conduct the service. Visitation and refreshments will be held at the church.

Consider memorial gifts to Centra Hospice, 2097 Langhorne Rd., Lynchburg, VA 24501, Forest Community Church (Building Fund), 1517 Thomas Jefferson Rd., Forest, VA 24551, or C.O.M. Home (Uganda), c/o The Kirk, 1517 Thomas Jefferson Rd., Forest, VA 24551.
