Marjorie Heath Huband passed peacefully to be with the Lord Friday, January 27, 2017, in Lynchburg, Va. She was the wife of the late Douglas Lee Huband and the late Virgil Mercer.

Born Thursday, November 19, 1931 in Benson, N.C., Marjorie was a daughter of the late Alvin Owen Heath and the late Myrtie Ellen Lee Heath and stepdaughter of the late Margaret Heath.

Margie was preceded in death by her sons, Douglas Lee Huband Jr. and Alvin Ray Huband; survived by her sons, Alan Huband of Richmond, Va. and Ty Leslie Huband and his wife, Elizabeth of Lynchburg, Va.; siblings, Charlotte Bundy, Aubrey Heath and wife, Carol, Fred Heath and wife, Diane; grandchildren, Corinthia Myers and husband, Travis, Heath Huband, Jennifer Brewster and husband, Stevie, Heather Huband and husband, David, Matthew Huband and wife, Lacey, Allison Goodwin and husband, Chase, Hal Huband, Conrad Huband and fiance’, Christie and Colin Huband and fiancé, Sarah; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Early on, Margie transitioned from being a housewife to a career woman, for over 30 years, with Electrolux (now AERUS.) In the 1970s, she became one of the first female Sales Managers in the company. At the same time, she maintained a welcoming home that was always open to those in need.

Margie always wanted to improve the human condition. She was never bashful about sharing her zeal for life with you and was always willing to tell you how she thought you should do it, and would support and encourage without judgment all the way through. She was a devoted Christian woman that always had a personal mission to help others. She was a member of Walmsley Boulevard United Methodist Church. She actively served her church, Meals on Wheels, food bank, and was a caregiver for the elderly. During the summers, Margie was the owner, manager, and chief fun-maker of Camp Wacky-nana, making many memories for grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends, neighbors and anybody else that showed up and wanted to participate in the fun.

A celebration of Margie’s life will be held Saturday, February 11, 2017, at 11 a.m. in Chester Christian Church, 4330 Curtis St. Chester, Va. 23831.
