Marjorie Walton Hall, age 81, of Lynchburg passed away peacefully Sunday, September 4, 2016 at Virginia Baptist Hospital. She was the wife of the late Paul Thomas Hall.
Born July 25, 1935 in Danville, she was the daughter of the late Sallie Jane Walton Johnston and the late Jesse Samuel Walton, Sr. She retired from General Electric and spent her retirement years cherishing her family, with particular joy shown in caring for her grandchildren who knew her as “nana”. Marjorie had many talents, including a gift of music in both piano and voice. She was an avid reader and needlepoint crafter, a quiet soft spoken woman who was always ready with a smile and a hug for those needing the comfort of a true southern bell.
Marjorie is survived by two daughters, Judy Hall Pruett (David) and Janice Hall Walker (Jack), both of Lynchburg, four grandchildren, David Thomas Pruett, Christopher Michael Pruett, Addison Elizabeth Walker, and Sydney Meredith Walker, her brother Herbert A. Walton, and six great-grandchildren. Marjorie was preceded in death by her brother, Jesse S. Walton Jr and her sister Doris Bell.
The family wishes to express special gratitude to the staffs of Runk and Pratt of Leesville Road, Lynchburg General Hospital, and Centra’s Hospice Care, all of whom cared for Marjorie with exceptional compassion and grace in her final days.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Centra Foundation, 1920 Atherholt Rd, Lynchburg, 24501 Sandusky Baptist Church, 915 Catalina Place, Lynchburg, VA 24502.
