Marshall Alexander Shuff III, 83, of Lynchburg, VA, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 24, 2024.
Marshall was born in Pulaski, VA, on November 12, 1941. He graduated from Pulaski County High School and Central Virginia Community College with a degree in fire science.
He was the son of the late Marshall Alexander Shuff, Jr. and the late Evelyn Jordan Shuff. Marshall was preceded in death by his sister, Elizabeth Shuff Bolt. Marshall was happily married to the late Sylvia Walters Shuff for 57 years before her passing in 2020. Marshall retired from Lynchburg City Fire Department. He owned and operated Shuff Maintenance Company, a successful electrical contracting company with the motto, “When the job’s tough, call Shuff.”
Marshall is survived by his daughter Shelley Shuff Burleigh and her husband William; sons, Marshall “Sam” Alexander Shuff IV, and his wife Camelot, and Edward Jordan Shuff and his wife Vicki. He had seven grandchildren who he loved dearly, Jennifer Burleigh Lloyd and her husband Kevin Lloyd, Stephanie Burleigh Marler and her husband Mathew Marler, Travis Dean Burleigh, Emily Shuff LaFlamme and her wife Nicole LaFlamme, Chloe Nicole Shuff and her husband Daniel Palacios, Jordan Marie Shuff, and Zachary Alexander Shuff. He was blessed with great grandsons Atticus Alexander Burleigh and Cooper Grey Lloyd.
A memorial service will be held at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at 2 pm with Pastors Bill Burleigh and Camelot Shuff officiating. Visitation will begin at 1pm. All family and friends are invited to celebrate Marshall’s life. A graveside service at Fort Hill Memorial Park will take place on January 3, 2025, at 1pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations can be sent to Marsh Memorial Church or Lynchburg Firefighter Memorial Fountain. Checks payable to Parks and Recreation of Lynchburg.
