Jane Widgeon, 72, of Goode, went to be with Jesus, Thursday, June 1, 2017. She was the wife of the late David Jennings Widgeon, Jr.
Jane was born in Harrisonburg on April 24, 1945 a daughter of the late Benjamin Wesley Johnson and Jane Steel Johnson. Jane worked as a Librarian with the Lynchburg City School system, was an active member of Forest Road United Methodist Church, and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
She was survived by her two sons: David Jennings Widgeon, III and his wife Angela of Christiansburg, and Matt Keith Widgeon of Roanoke, and two grandchildren, Benjamin Guy Widgeon and Evelyn Jane Widgeon, her siblings: David Johnson and his wife Marilyn of N.C., Ruth Miles of VA, Dan Johnson and his wife Sis of N.C., and Dottie Toney and her husband Richard of GA, her mother-in-law, Annette Widgeon of VA, her two sisters-in-law, Patricia Sturgis and her husband Jimmy of VA, Connie Campbell and her husband William of VA, and cousin Lynn Brockwell and his wife Donna of N.C. and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, June 5, 2017 at Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg.
A Celebration of Jane’s Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at Forest Road United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bill Price officiating. Interment will follow at Virginia Memorial Park.
