Martha Lucille Page Durie

October 11, 1930 — July 14, 2015

Martha Lucille Page Durie, 84, of Lynchburg, surrounded by her loving family went to be with Jesus on Tuesday, July 14, 2015. She was the wife of the late Charles Thomas Durie, for 29 years.

Born Saturday, October 11, 1930 in Appomattox; Lucille was a daughter of the late George Washington Page and the late Virginia Elizabeth Lucado Page.

In addition to her husband and parents, Lucille was preceded in death by three brothers, George, Lewis, and Richard Page; and a grandson Clint Durie.

Lucille is survived by her children, Roger Durie (Joyce), of Spout Spring, Ronnie Durie (Edith), of Madison Heights, Linda Wood (Rocky), of Evington, Dianne Saucedo (Stan Bacon), of Lynchburg, Teresa Eubank (Ronnie), of Madison Heights; three brothers, Ned Page (Pat), of Appomattox, Clyde Page (Cora Mae), of Gladstone, and David Page (Carolyn), of Appomattox; three sisters, Dorothy Harrison, of Rustburg, Janie Martin, of Sweetwater, Tenn., and Annie Steele (William), of Spout Spring; a sister-in-law, Erma Page, of Appomattox; 11 grandchildren, Terresa Ann Falls (G.W.), Charles T. Durie, II, Rhonda Whorley (Mike Brisson), Shane Durie, Rhiannon Durie, Charity Durie, Wade Viar (Jessica), Justin Ridgeway (Rachel), Dayan Coleman (Scott Squires), Lindsey Eubank Ostergaard (Erik), and Jonathan Eubank; ten great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and a special friend and neighbor, Bettie Martin.

Lucille was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister. Family was everything to her. She loved family gatherings and she enjoyed traveling, cooking, and collecting cook books. All that entered her home felt her love. Just by living the way she did, she taught us more than she ever knew. Lucille retired from General Electric after 30 years of service.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, July 17, 2015 at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg. A celebration of Lucille’s life will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. Jeff Worley officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park.

The family would like to thank Dr. Cecilia MacCallum and the Oncology Department at Lynchburg General, for the loving care given to Lucille.
