Martha Virginia Wyatt

February 21, 1919 — November 25, 2016

Martha Virginia Chipley Wyatt, wife of the late Joseph Robert Wyatt, Jr., died November 25, 2016 at Westminster-Canterbury in Lynchburg.

The fourth of seven children, she was born on February 21, 1919 in Lynchburg to the late Elizabeth Allen Chipley and Hunter Dixon Chipley.

Virginia was a member of Rivermont Evangelical Presbyterian Church and a dedicated community volunteer.  She will be remembered for her devotion to her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her three sisters, Mabel Margretta Chipley, Lucy Archer Chipley Withington, and Mary Cary Chipley, and by her three brothers, Hunter Dixon Chipley, William Allen Chipley, and Robert Tilden McLeod Chipley.

Pie, as she was known by her family, is survived by her three children, Elizabeth Allen Wyatt Graham and husband Conrad and their sons Conrad (Mallory) and Hunter (Morgan), Joseph Robert Wyatt,  III and wife Paula and their son Jay, and Thomas Payne Wyatt and wife Sherrill and sons Matt and Rob.  She is also survived by five great granddaughters and twelve nieces and nephews.

There will be a reception on Tuesday, November 29 from 3 to 5 p.m. at Westminster-Canterbury.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Westminster-Canterbury Fellowship Fund (501 V.E.S. Road, Lynchburg, Virginia 24503) or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
