Marvin Lane Harper passed away on August 7, 2024. He was born in Louisa County, VA on March 27, 1953, to the late Harvey and Ruth Harper.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Gail; two brothers Gary Harper, Norman Harper; and his sister Tina Harper.

A strong work ethic was important to Marvin which was evident throughout his life. When he was younger, Marvin worked alongside his brothers at their father’s company, Harvey J. Harper Well Drilling. Marvin ended his working career at Phillip Morris where he was employed for over 30 years.

Marvin loved telling the story of how he met his wife, Gail, one night at Bills Barbecue. Married for over 50 years, their love and devotion were evident to everyone who knew them. During this time together, they created a beautiful and amazing life that included their children, grandchildren, and countless other family and friends.

Marvin, also known as “My Friend”, was a self-professed talker who never met a stranger. He enjoyed making others laugh by telling funny stories and jokes. You could often find Marvin looking through photographs of his family as he listened to his favorite music.
