Mary Alice Murphy

Mary Alice Murphy, age 72, of Lynchburg, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours on October 8, 2016. Mary Alice was born in Norfolk, Va., on June 18th, 1944, a daughter of the late Dick and Marie Murphy. Overcoming disabilities, she graduated from Holy Cross School and completed two years of college at the University of Virginia Extension. Marie Alice was a special activities aide at Central Virginia Training Center.

Mary Alice is survived by her brother, Richard “Rick” Murphy and her niece Connor Murphy, of Glen Allen, Va. and cousin, Rosemary McDonald of Lynchburg.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated with Father Dan Brady officiating at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 4491 Springfield Road, Glen Allen, Va. 23060. Interment will take place at Springhill Cemetery in Lynchburg at 2 p.m. that day with Mgr. J. Kenneth Rush officiating.
