Mary Bertha Meador Martin, 97, of Bedford, passed away on Monday, September 12, 2016 at Oakwood Manor Health & Rehab. She was born in Moneta, on May 21, 1919. She is the daughter of the late General Jackson Meador and Fannie May Miller Meador. In addition to her parents Bertha was preceded in death by her loving husband William Price Martin; her sisters, Everline Emmerson, Clara Martin, Virginia Hurt and Courtney Davidson; brothers, Will Meador, Grant Meador, Bryant Meador and Claude Meador.
Bertha was a long term member of Bedford Christian Church. She was a loving mother, cook and homemaker. She enjoyed spending time entertaining her family and friends.
She is survived by her two children, Dalond Martin of Las Vegas and Wanda Taylor and her husband Ben of Bedford; two grandsons, Ed Taylor of Chattanooga, TN and Mark Taylor of Dallas, TX; brother, Kenneth Meador and his wife, Ruth of Ridgeway, VA; sister, Odell Richardson of Martinsville, VA; also numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral service and celebration of Bertha’s life will be conducted at 2:00 pm, Thursday, September 15, 2016 at Tharp Funeral Chapel with Rev. Bill Moore officiating.
