Mary Ellen Burks

Mary Ellen Burks , 94, of Lynchburg, VA, passed away Tuesday, December 10, 2024.

Mary Ellen was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great great-grandmother, aunt and mother-in-law. A true friend to all who knew her.

Mary Ellen leaves to treasure and cherish a legacy of love and fond memories, her daughter, Charlotte Dianne Wellons of Newport News, VA; son, Dennis Ray Charlton (Pam) of Lynchburg, VA; two sisters, Ruby Edlow (George) of Baltimore, MD and Ruth Cabler of Manassas, VA; granddaughter, LaVelle Jones; grandson, Ray Charlton, Jr.; six great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren. Also, a devoted nephew Albert Hewitt (frog) of Lynchburg, VA, devoted goddaughter and caregiver France Dawson of Lynchburg, VA along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

We are grateful to God for giving Mary Ellen Cabler Burks so many years with us.

A funeral service will be held Monday December 16, 2024 at Chapel Grove Baptist Church at 2:00P.M. Interment to follow at the church cemetery. She will lie in repose one hour prior to service for viewing.
