Mary Cassandra "Sandra" Short Stevens

Mary Cassandra "Sandra" Short Stevens went home to be with the Lord on September 18, 2024. She was born on August 12, 1946, to the late Lewis Frank Short and Mary Frazier Short. She married Rev. Donnie Garland Stevens on November 18, 1967. 

Along with her husband, she is survived by three sons, Chris, Mike, and Timmy (Jessica) Stevens. Sandra was also blessed with five grandchildren, Jackson, Katie, Shane, Lucas, Rylynn, and another grandson on the way. She is also survived by her sister, Kaye Short Dunkley (Barry), brother in law, Ronnie Stevens and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister in law Gaye Stevens. 

She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Lynchburg, where she was active with the children and families until her decline in health. She loved the Lord, her family, crafts, and nature, especially birds and flowers. 

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 21, 2024, at Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg.

A Celebration of Mary’s Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 21, 2024, in the chapel of Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg with the Rev. Bobby Lee officiating. Interment will be held privately at a later date.
