Mary Chitwood Taylor, 93, of Lynchburg, died Monday, March 7, 2011. She was the wife of the late Horace Taylor.
Mary was born May 24, 1917 in Sylvatus, VA a daughter of the late Giles Chitwood and the late Ella Blankenship Chitwood. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, a member of Timberlake Christian Church, and by following her dream to help others she became an Oncology Nurse on the Skilled Care Floor at Centra Virginia Baptist Hospital.
She is survived by her son: Thomas E. Robinson of Forest; granddaughter: Kim R. Newton of Lynchburg; grandson: T. J. Robinson of Charlotte, NC; great-grandsons: Reed and Remy Newton of Lynchburg and Tanner Robinson of Charlotte, NC. and a sister Viola Edwards of Stow, OH. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband Jake Robinson
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday March 11, 2011 at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg and a Memorial Service will follow at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel.
Interment will take place at North End Cemetery in Wytheville at a later date.
