She was a vital part of counselor education at many levels, and was honored to be selected Lynchburg Area Counselor of the Year in 2007. Her outstanding ability to listen, guide, and solve any situation helped to enhance wide-reaching friendship bonds with those whose lives she touched.
Timberlake United Methodist Church was another part of the community Betsy strongly supported. As a member, as well as being on the staff for several years, she exemplified her commitment and care for others through her unselfish dedication to programs of volunteer service and outreach.
